Report on samples tested in February and March 2022
In addition to maintaining our collaboration with Plein Milieu and Refuge Hôtel-Dieu, in February we began offering our drug checking service in partnership with Spectre de Rue and Centre SIDA-Secours. We also conducted analysis at a rave for the first time, which was a real success (if you or someone you know would like to have us at their event, contact us :) )
Here we present our report and data from drug checking we performed in February and March 2022 with three types of analytical technologies: colorimetric reagents, fentanyl and benzodiazepine detection strips, and infrared spectrometry (FT-IR).
Due to the limitations of our hours and locations of operation, as well as our technologies, the results of our report likely do not represent the true composition of drugs in the unregulated Montreal market.
Key points
- In February and March 2022, we analysed 38 samples.
- Mannitol (a sugar), caffeine (a mild stimulant) and cellulose (an inactive filler) were the most frequently detected cutting agents.
- One sample, purchased as MDMA, was found to be Eutylone, a synthetic cathinone in the stimulant category.
